Balanced Scorecard

Are you financially successful inspite of the lack of goal setting and holding others accountable for results? As companies grow, they find the need to implement more formal processes to ensure clarity of goals, accountability and responsibility.

The balanced scorecard translates the organization's strategy into understandable goals and objectives, which are then communicated to everyone in the organization. Balanced scorecards provide management with a comprehensive picture of vision, mission, values, business goals, and performance against key metrics.

Working through the balanced scorecard process enables management to find those key areas that will drive business success as well as to define how to measure them.

The balanced scorecard defines these business drivers:

  • Financial– what are our owner/shareholder expectations for financial performance?
  • Customer – to reach our financial objectives, how do we create value for our customers?
  • Internal Business Processes – what processes must we excel at to satisfy our customers and owners/shareholders?
  • People – how do we align our intangible assets; people, culture and best practices, to improve the critical processes?

The scorecard drives the planning and budget processes and ensures alignment and accountability throughout the organization.
